Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade)

Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) is a liquid seaweed plant conditioner made up of a synergistic range of natural compounds, trace elements, alginates, and carbohydrates derived from brown kelp. The commercial grade formula acts as a complete, high-quality garden health treatment that boosts plant metabolism, with active ingredients present at a higher concentration than regular-grade Seasol.

Seasol is 100% soluble and can be applied either to the soil or a plant’s foliage for excellent results. This organic seaweed biostimulant works best when integrated into an existing plant fertilisation program. Seasol Seaweed Concentrate is an ACO Certification Ltd (formerly Australian Certified Organic) Allowed Input.

Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) SEASOL-COMMERCIAL Seasol

Description

What are the benefits of Seasol Seaweed Concentrate?

Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) draws on plant nutrients, trace elements, alginic acid, and other beneficial bioactive compounds to promote plant and soil health across roots, soil, flowering, and fruiting. It also helps plants to cope with stresses like heat, drought, frost, pests, and disease.

What is Seasol Seaweed Concentrate made from?

Seasol is derived from a blend of the finest brown kelp species from around the world, including the King Island bull kelp (Durvillaea potatorum) and knotted kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum). Samples are sustainably sourced from storm-cast material from the remote shores of Tasmania and parts of the North Atlantic, rather than from living organisms. This ensures the highest possible quality and consistency in every drum.

Notably, bull kelp provides the strongest stimulation for plant growth thanks to a complete lack of pollution or contamination.

Once plant matter has been acquired, Seasol Liquid Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) is extracted in a processing plant through a unique method designed to maximise the extraction of essential compounds.

What is the analysis of Seasol Seaweed Concentrate?

Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) typically returns an analysis as follows:

How to apply Seasol Seaweed Concentrate

Seasol is filtered to 150 microns, making it suitable for application with any conventional spray equipment, including a boom or irrigation equipment. For plants that are hard to wet, combine Seasol with a non-ionic wetting agent.

Best practice suggests application is avoided under extreme weather conditions (drought, heavy rainfall, etc.). Seasol should never be applied undiluted, as water acts as a carrier to ensure proper coverage. Once you have diluted the product, it must be used within 24 hours.

Seasol Commercial Grade vs regular grade: What’s the difference?

The key difference between Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) and its ‘regular grade’ counterpart is simply the concentration of ingredients. The commercial grade equivalent includes active ingredients at a higher concentration than traditional Seasol.

Is Seasol a fertiliser?

No, Seasol is not a fertiliser. It is a plant conditioner and biostimulant that contains low levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, but not in quantities that can drive plant nutrition. Its role is to stimulate root growth, improve stress tolerance, and improve microbial activity in the soil. It should be used alongside your existing fertiliser, not as a replacement.

How is Seasol different from PowerFeed?

Seasol Seaweed Concentrate is a plant conditioner, whereas PowerFeed is a fertiliser. Seasol focuses on root stimulation, stress tolerance, and soil microbial activity, whilst PowerFeed delivers targeted plant nutrition across nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium plus trace elements. Many growers use both products as part of an integrated plant health program.

Can I use Seasol Seaweed Concentrate through a fertigation or irrigation system?

Yes — Seasol Commercial is filtered to 150 microns and suits all conventional irrigation systems. Apply at 5 to 10L/ha through drip or micro-irrigation, overhead sprinklers, and travelling or pivot irrigators. For hand sprayers and knapsacks, use 3 to 5mL per litre of water. The product should be applied throughout the full irrigation run to achieve consistent coverage from the canopy to the root.

Can Seasol Seaweed Concentrate be used on vegetables and edible plants?

As an ACO Certification Ltd Allowed Input, Seasol Commercial is suitable for vegetables and edible crops. As with all plant treatments, ensure you wash edible produce before consuming it after application.

How often should Seasol Seaweed Concentrate be applied?

The frequency of application for Seasol Seaweed Concentrate will depend on the situation. For general plant health, apply every three to four weeks throughout the growing season. For stress management during heat or cold events, apply five to seven days before the expected stress period and again afterward. For pastures, apply in the first irrigation after each grazing event.

Can Seasol Seaweed Concentrate be mixed with fertilisers or other products?

Yes — Seasol Commercial is generally compatible with liquid fertilisers in tank mixes. However, tank-mixing with pesticides should be avoided when the target outcome is cold-stress tolerance. Field experience shows this reduces that specific benefit. As with any product combination, always confirm compatibility with individual products before mixing.

Is Seasol Seaweed Concentrate safe for Australian native plants?

Yes, Seasol Seaweed Concentrate is safe for use on Australian native plants. It contains low phosphorus levels (0.02% w/v), making it suitable for phosphorus-sensitive species. Its role as a plant conditioner rather than a high-analysis fertiliser means it supports plant health without the phosphorus toxicity risk that affects many native species.

The directions for use for Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) specify rates for large and/or stressed trees, indicating that this product could benefit your situation. The directions of use specify that you should apply this product monthly to the soil around your trees' dripline (canopy edge). To the best of our knowledge, the ingredients used to manufacture Seasol Seaweed Concentrate (Commercial Grade) are better quality and designed for commercial applications versus non-commercial grade Seasol options, as such this could be a good option for you to achieve the best results with your Eucalypt trees. Please don't hesitate to clarify this with the manufacturer, Seasol, at (03) 9721 4100.

Seasol Seaweed Concentrate's recommended mixing rate ranges from 20mL to 100mL diluted in 9L water. The lower rates are generally used on less hungry plants, such as ferns or potted plants, with medium rates (30mL) recommended for veggies and gardens and higher rates for large trees or stressed plants. Refer to the 'directions of use' table, which can be found on the Seasol Seaweed Concentrate product screen. Scroll down to the 'Directions of Use' heading and select. Here you find a detailed table with situations, dilution rates, and frequency of application.

  6. Hi, I have an acreage block in southeast Queensland with newly planted turf, approx 800m2. A watering can is out of the question, and I don't have a boomspray, but I do have a 30ltr mobile sprayer. Can I spray the area and then water it in? If so, what is the strength ratio in the sprayer, and how many square metres (m2) should it cover? I also need to apply a Seasol wetting agent. The same question applies as above. Thank you.

Although an even coverage will be achieved via boom spray, Seasol Seaweed Concentrate can still be applied via a hand spray. Seasol Commercial must be diluted using sufficient water to achieve adequate coverage when applied as a foliar spray. The recommended rate for turf is 10L/10,000m2 or 1mL per 1m2. Specialist Sales stocks various soil surfactants but does stock Seasol Soil Wetter. As Seasol Seaweed Concentrate does not have a recommended rate for use in pasture situations, we suggest using a similar rate as advised for Seasol PastureMasta Fertiliser & Soil Conditioner. The rate of 5-10L/Ha can be applied via a boom spray application. For all types of spray equipment, use the area usually covered by one tankful to determine how much product to add.

Seasol Seaweed Concentrate does not have a best-before or expiry date. If possible, the best practice would be to use the contents within a few years (3-5) of purchasing. Store in a closed, air-tight container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Tips For Use

The Benefits of Seasol

Before You Apply

  • Always dilute Seasol Commercial before use. Never apply undiluted. Water is the carrier — dilution is essential for proper coverage and to avoid plant damage.
  • Once diluted, use the spray solution within 24 hours.
  • Do not tank-mix with pesticides when the target outcome is cold-stress tolerance. Field experience shows this combination reduces effectiveness.

Irrigation Application

  • Apply Seasol throughout the full duration of the irrigation run. This ensures a consistent dose from the canopy through to the target soil depth.
  • For irrigated pasture, apply Seasol in the first irrigation after grazing to support rapid regrowth and high palatability.
  • Target applications at critical crop development stages for maximum growth response.

Stress Management Timing

  • For heat stress protection, apply a 10L/ha foliar spray 5 to 7 days before expected hot conditions. After a hot spell, follow up with 5L/ha to support recovery.
  • For cold-stress tolerance, apply 10L/ha foliar spray as soon as forecasts indicate developing cold risk. Start early in the season for best results.

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep containers tightly sealed. Do not store near incompatible materials or strong oxidising agents.
  • Protect from freezing.

General Precautions

  • As with all plant treatments, wash edible plants before consuming them after application.
  • Avoid skin and eye contact. Wash your hands after use. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling concentrate.
  • If splashed in the eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush with running water for several minutes. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

Safety and First Aid

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
  • For further information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
